(Examiner) Arizona has succeeded in making itself one of the most backward states in the country. A new law signed by Jan Brewer on Thursday states that, in Arizona, pregnancy begins two weeks before conception. This law reduces the amount of time that a woman has to get an abortion if she wants one, or it is deemed medical necessary for her health. One abortion advocate has this to say about the new law;
“This is the most backward thinking ever. Often times, a woman won’t even find out if there is a severe problem with the baby until she is 20 to 22 weeks along when an ultrasound is performed. It seems like cruel and unusual punishment to force a woman to have a baby that will die within minutes of birth in these circumstances. Most women don’t even know they are pregnant until they are at least a month along or more.”
